Certified Registration of Non Compliant Pools
Pool Safety Inspection in Queensland
TCP Property Services will provide quality pre-purchase
assessment, done professionally with a written report and delivered timeously,
to help you in arrangements for your new house. If you are selling or
purchasing a property with a pool you will need to know whether the pool is
signed up with the Pool Safety Council, and has a present pool security
certification.
If your swimming pool is not compliant, you could sign a
Form 36 which mentions "No Pool Safety Certificate", or you could
decide to have the essential changes made for compliance. You will have 90 days
from date of purchase to get the pool compliant if you buy a home with a non
certified swimming pool.
The state of Queensland has stringent laws and from
December 1st, 2010, legislation requires that all swimming pool obstacles, on
homes offered or rented, must be checked and a compliance certificate released
by 30th November, 2015.
Once every two years, providers of brief term
accommodation and shared swimming pools are needed to be checked. Non shared
swimming pool compliance certifications are valid for two years and shared
swimming pool certificates stand for 12 months.
New laws need four-sided obstacles to surround a swimming
pool with a minimum height of 48 inches or 1200 mm from ground level and
non-climbable zones in a 180º arc determining 36 inches or 900 mm from the
top. To be compliant, there need to not be any things that are more than 0.5
inches or 10 mm in width and depth in the non-climbable zones. Using a building
as one side of the barrier is not enabled.
Gates must have self-closing hinges and be self latching.
The gate must not spring open when required from the bottom.
These laws have actually been passed to minimize the
threat of children drowning in Queensland, however must not by any means permit
complacency, as it requires a mix of pool security and alert child supervision
to avoid a drowning.
A non certified pool could expose you to fines and affect
the resale value of your property. A licensed pool security inspector from TCP
Property Services will examine your pool for compliance and issue the
appropriate compliance certificate from the Pool Safety Council.
